As a prominent leader, educator, researcher and volunteer, Dr Steven Wong has made many
impactful
and significant contributions to the growth of the cybersecurity ecosystem in Singapore. His
limitless passion, enthusiasm and innovativeness makes him an excellent role model for all
cybersecurity professionals in Singapore
Dr Steven Wong was the former President of the Association of Information Security Professionals
(AiSP) and under his leadership, the association has launched many significant initiatives to
grow
the cybersecurity ecosystem in Singapore. Steven also plays a significant role is advancing the
cybersecurity standards and practices in Singapore. Notably, he led the establishment and
development of CREST Singapore to elevate the standards for penetration testing services in
Singapore. He also led a task force to draft and develop the Singapore Cybersecurity Standards
Roadmap. Other than AiSP, he also spends his time serving in leadership positions in several
other
industry committees and bodies. Positions he has held include the Deputy Chairman for the
Coordinating Committee for Cybersecurity (CCCY), Co-Chairman of the Cloud Security Alliance APAC
Education Council, Co-Chairman of the Council for Registered Ethical Security Testers,
Co-Chairman
of WG3 of the Telecommunications Standards Advisory Committee, the Chairman of the IEEE Consumer
Electronics (Singapore) chapter, etc.
As an educator, Dr Steven Wong is an Associate Professor at the Singapore Institute of
Technology
(SIT) where he spearheaded the first Information Security degree programme offered by an
autonomous
university in Singapore as its founding Programming Director. As a teacher, Steven is passionate
about educating the next generation and has been given many teaching awards over his last two
decades in academia. Most recently, he was also awarded the Public Administration Medal (Bronze)
in
the National Day Awards 2020 for his contributions to the University.
