CREST
To address the industry need to improve the quality of the penetration testing professionals in Singapore as well as to provide better assurance to end-users on the standard of penetration testing services rendered, AiSP partnered with the Cybersecurity Agency of Singapore (CSA), the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the Infocomm Development Agency (IDA, now IMDA) and the Associations of Banks in Singapore (ABS) to establish CREST Singapore in 2016.
As a special project by AiSP, the objective of CREST Singapore is as follows:
- To enable professionals to take CREST examinations and ensure sufficient professionals are certified to allow for company onboarding
- To increase the adoption of CREST company accreditations
- To enable CREST Singapore to be a self-sustaining autonomous organisation after the project period
During project period, CREST Singapore has successfully implemented several key strategic initiatives, such as:
- CREST Industry event and the launching of the CREST examination facility at the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT)
- Onboarding CREST examinations to CITREP+ Funding Support scheme in 2016
- Insertion of CREST into the MAS-ABS Pen-testing Guidelines in 2017
- Insertion of CREST into the CSA CII Directive in 2018
- CRESTCon 2018
- CRESTCon 2019
With a healthy uptake of professional certifications and company accreditations, the project concluded successfully in March 2021. Under AiSP, CREST Singapore has grown across the years and has shown to be self-sustaining. As such, the project entered a transition period between April to December 2021 for CREST Singapore to be established as an autonomous organisation independent of AiSP. Project Secretariat from AiSP continued with its support during the transition period and facilitated the handover to the new Secretariat team.
As of 1 January 2022, CREST Singapore has completed its transition and is now officially a separate organisation independent of AiSP. As such, AiSP Immediate Past President, Dr. Steven Wong, has also stepped down from the CREST Singapore Committee as its founding Co-chair.
AiSP wishes CREST Singapore all the best in its future endeavours. For further information on CREST examination in Singapore, please contact [email protected] directly.
